Slope-intercept form sorting cards give students a chance to practice identifying slope and y-intercept in y = mx + b. Students match a situation, graph, table, equation, slope and y-intercept. There are 6 sets of cards for students to match. There is also a blank set of cards so that early finishers can make their own set of cards for an extension activity that uses higher-order thinking skills.

There is an answer sheet for students to fill out as they match the cards.

In addition to the card matching activity, this resource also contains an analysis activity, Analyzing Slope Intercept Form. This could be used as an exit ticket or as an assignment. Finally, there is a practice worksheet for slope-intercept form. This worksheet gives students 8 problems. The first two problems are equations; students must identify the slope and y-intercept. The next six problems have a variety of tables, graphs and situations. For each of these six problems, students must identify the slope and y-intercept, as well as write the equation.

For example, the function 𝘈 = 𝑠² giving the area of a square as a function of its side length is not linear because its graph contains the points (1,1), (2,4) and (3,9), which are not on a straight line.
