This is a comprehensive double-sided practice document on finding Slope
in different situations. There are 27 questions total.
On questions 1 & 2, the student is give 3 different rates that have to be simplified down to a unit rate so that they can compare and decide "who types the fastest". On questions 3 & 4, the student is given a situation such as "A hot air balloon is sighted at an altitude of 400 feet and appears to be descending at a constant rate of 20 feet per minute. It took the balloon 20 minutes to reach the ground". The student is asked to identify the independent & dependent variables, the slope, the starting value and then write a function rule.
On questions 6 through 13, the student is given an equation and asked to find the slope. Most equations are in y = mx + b format. Some need a one-step fix to get the equation into the correct format. On questions 14 - 21, the student is given 2 points and asked to find the slope. A lot of the points look alike to make these questions more difficult. Finally, on questions 22 - 27, the student is given the graph of a line and asked to find the slope. Key included.
