Product Description
I use entrance cards 180 days a year. For many of the topics I teach, I have a set of entrance cards. Entrance cards are a set of 30 cards with a single problem on each one. Each problem is unique and different than the rest of the cards in the set, however all are on the same topic.

Before class begins, I pick one set of cards to use that day. As the students enter my classroom, I hand them a card. As they find their seats, they are required to copy and solve the problem in their notebook. Once the starting bell rings, I walk to each student and check their answer with the enclosed answer key. If they are correct, I take the card. If they are incorrect, I offer assistance until they are correct.
If I find that a class struggled with a particular set of cards one day, I give a mini lesson on it and use those cards again the following day.

In this set, you will receive 30 cards and an answer key for determining slope given two ordered pairs

Benefits of entrance cards:
• You will greet each student as they enter your classroom. Sometimes I get caught up in doing work at my desk or chatting with my colleagues that I don’t greet my students. With these cards, I have to stay at my door and greet them.
• You will have the opportunity to work one-on-one (albeit briefly) with each student at the beginning of class. I find this gives shy students a chance to ask you something they normally wouldn’t have.
• These cards work as formative assessment. If I find that a class is really struggling with a set of cards, I’ll do a mini lesson and continue to use those cards for a few days in a row until the students improve.
• Discourages cheating because each student has a different problem.
• Students are more likely to do the warm up because they can’t depend on the other students to do it for them. AKA cheat. ;-)
• I have a large collection of topics of entrance cards and use them throughout the year. When we learn a new topic, I create a new set of cards and add them to my rotation.
