I wrote this 3rd grade level (roughly) reading about sloths for a 4th grader who was struggling with vocabulary and comprehension.
The simple black font (Arial size 14) and 1.5 line spacing ensure that the reading can be enjoyed by those with visual sensitivities. Challenging words are spread out throughout the reading to prevent fatigue, and it’s packed with fun facts and written engagingly to keep readers' attention. Several questions are imbedded in the text, instead of at the end, to ease memory demands.
The reading is suitable for decoding/fluency practice or reading comprehension practice.
The file contains only one small photo, so as to not exhaust purchasers' ink supplies. You can easily print out photos that match the story if you so choose- or even better, show photos on a large screen that allows for zooming in.
