One of my favorite discoveries as a counselor is what I call "cupcake breathing!" Students imagine a cupcake, then they have to smell it (in through the nose) and blow out the candle (out through the mouth). I have used it many, many times to help students who are angry, stressed out, scared, panicky, or when they're just having a bad day! Use these 5 easy steps to teach students how to deep breathe the correct way.
And what kid (or teacher!) doesn't love thinking about cupcakes?
