Your students will have fun practicing double digit subtraction with regrouping while they play this game.
Students will play in pairs. Each student gets a Smack-a-Number board and a scratch sheet of paper. They say, "One, two, three, smack-a number!" Without looking, they each smack a number on their board.
On their own sheet of scratch paper, they put the biggest number first and subtract. They compare their answers. If they both got the same (correct answer), they put a star next to their answer. They continue playing until they reach the amount of stars that the teacher designates.
