Reading fluency is an important part of small group instruction. We hope you find these strips helpful and of value.

These sets allow your students to practice lowercase letters, uppercase letters, beginning sounds, beginning sight words and alphabet vocabulary.

Why fluency strips? Fluency is an important part of reading success. These strips should not be used as an introduction but instead as practice. Print all of the pages full size or use the printer feature to print them smaller, two to a page. Print on cardstock and place in bags, folders or hole punch to place on rings.

For long term learning, we don’t want students to always need to point to the word / letter as they say it, but teaching one-to-one correspondence is necessary for beginning readers. Have students point to each letter / word as they read it and practice sliding their finger from one dot the next.
