The booklets at this level are designed for students with limited sight-word vocabularies and who need an alternative to phonics as their only reading instruction.
Color the Sounds uses motion and color to create a fun, multisensory activity that engages the working and long-term memories. Color markers are used instead of pencils. Target words are traced, and passages are read in an interactive way. A scaffolded support process allows even the most reluctant readers to participate in an active way, providing them with opportunities to enjoy success.
The download gives you blackline masters for 5 student booklets. Progress monitoring charts, running record passages, and teacher’s guide are included. Word-sorts relate words from the passages to phonics and critical-thinking. An answer key is not included as it is not really necessary.
A sample, with instructions, is provided in the preview.
