cation + learning has written a straight-forward, small-scale lab for students to investigate pH indicators, including 6-liquid indicators, pH paper, and litmus paper.
This 45-minute lab is written for Grades 9-12. Purpose, materials, procedure, data tables, and discussion questions are included in this download. All information is condensed to 1-page (front/back) student handout to conserve paper usage. All waste may be neutralized easily with NaHCO3 and vinegar, and disposed in the sink drain.
This editable version of this lab allows you to alter the indicators to what you have in your store room already. You may choose to use less than 8 indicators too.
Key words: acid, base, pH, pH indicator, serial dilution, dilution, pH paper, litmus paper
cation + learning's teaching materials and assessments are thoughtful and focused. All materials were written for (and are currently used) in my high school chemistry classroom; however, many concepts are cross-curricular and may be useful in other science classes and grade levels.
Thank you for viewing (and hopefully purchasing!) cation + learning’s teaching materials and assessments.
