Children spin a number and put the corresponding amount of manipulatives on the grid. You can extend the learning by giving directions for filling the grid (ex. "Feed the spider two more than you rolled.", "Feed the owl one less than the number you spun.", "Use 2 different types of candy to fill your grid", etc.). The one who fills their first without going over wins. Continue playing for children to see and understand a number's quantity in relation to ten. After lots of experience doing that, children can extend further by tallying the amount filled on the grid for each turn, draw their amount, write number sentences, etc.
