This lesson is designed to give students a better understanding of the numbers 11-20. Students will learn different ways to represent numbers including number word, picture, ten frame and numeral.This lesson starts out with a matching game. Students will flip tiles to match numbers to number words. This will review numbers 10 or less. Next a problem of the day introduces the lesson. Students will pop a balloon with the correct answer to the problem. Next a number line 11-20 is displayed for discussion. Students can drag a hexagon counter to show these numbers. A song is also linked for fun counting!! Next number words for 11-20 are displayed. Students can draw a line to match number to number word. Students will then generate a number on a random number generator (numbers 11-20). They will then show the number on a double ten frame by dragging a counter. Last students will look at a double ten frame, draw a picture of the number they see and pop a balloon to see if they are correct.
