This letter and beginning sound creation has been created by The Kindergarten Smorgasboard to give students practice with letters and sounds during the month of October and leading up to Halloween. This activity is easily differentiated and customizable for your classroom and students. This game can be played whole group, small group or used as a center activity! These cards would be great in your sensory bin or sensory table!
Print and laminate the cards. You can tape or glue the hammers to straws or leave them unattached. Place the pumpkins with pictures or letters into a pocket chart. Student says the picture and sound. Find the hammer with the letter for that sound. They can then place the hammer with the pumpkin and yell: “SMASH!” If using the letter pumpkins, they say the letter and find the matching letter hammer. Place the hammer in the chart and yell “SMASH!”
