Product Description

I've designed this colour wheel to introduce colour theory to primary age students, in a fun and engaging task. This is a skill development task, however you can make it more creative and build on this activity.

Download Includes:

  • Lesson plan instructions
  • Painting and cleaning up tips
  • Snail colour wheel with 3 variations depending on your students prior knowledge and ability.
  • For American teachers I have also provided a worksheet with 'COLOR' instead of 'COLOUR'.
  • All worksheets have a space for the students name and class.
  • Grassy bush design with various sizes provided in the download to create a class display of snails and grass.

Page 1 Snail Worksheet

  • This is a great introduction into colour theory.
  • For this worksheet students are provided with a label for where they are required to paint each colour.
  • Students could be challenged to mix their own secondary colours from the primary colours, or if required provided with all 6 colours already mixed.

Page 2 Snail Worksheet

  • This sheet can be used for a class or group of students that have a greater understanding of primary and secondary colours. Labels are removed to make this more challenging.

Page 3 Snail Worksheet

  • GET CREATIVE!
  • This worksheet is a bit more challenging and great when you have more class time available for colour theory. Students are given a blank snail head so they can create their own mouth and eyes.
  • Students could design and paint their snail. Then cut it out and create a great class display for your room.
  • Consider using googly eyes for young kids.
