Product Description
A lesson plan that incorporates your Orff and Kodaly music curriculum with singing, rhythm, melody, movement, instruments, creativity and form!

We all know the folk song “Snail Snail” can be used to teach “la”, quarter notes and eighth notes. However, let’s extend the song and the activities to make it truly musical and memorable.

The song has been extended to include 2 verses (utilizing DRMS) with the original “Snail” song as the chorus, a speech section and detailed instructions on how to create a rhythmic section with your class in order to give you options on how to develop or perform the activity with your elementary music students. Your students will love the engaging activities included in the lesson plan and the PowerPoint.

The set of Lesson Plans and PowerPoint interactive slides include:

• 8 lessons each 6-15 minutes (11 pdf pages) plus an original Orff arrangement. The lesson plans include detailed instructions for teaching the song, movement, rhythmic and melodic activities, and Orff ensemble to first and second grade. Additional adaptions and extensions are also addressed.

• 47 slides created with PowerPoint 2010 (with 30 slides being student interactive) may be used to reinforce identifying rhythmic patterns aurally and notating the song on the staff. You will have everything you need to teach all the lessons and extensions. The PowerPoint also works well with Smartboards!

• 9 pages of iconic pictures are included at the end of the Lesson Plans for those that would like to use the interactive activities without utilizing the computer or a projector.

It is a perfect piece to add to a performance/concert or just to sing and dance in music class addressing curricular concepts as appropriate. You do not need to utilize the Orff arrangement in order to address curricular concepts while your class enjoys making music with this product.
