This is game 3 of 3 from the Numeration 1-10 manual. The lesson uses any snake game set (addition snake game is the least expensive).
The Direct Aims:
To associate the numerical symbols with the specific quantities they represent.
To introduce the symbol of 10.
Unconscious preparation for the decimal and metric systems.
To experience and prepare for addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
The full manual is available in my store and has a number of lessons and games. It can be accessed here: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Montessori-Math-Manual-Numeration-1-10-Training-Manual-BC-Curriculum-3676158
Math starts with numeration from the numbers 1-10. Through hands-on didactic materials they build on the foundation of numerals to learn about the decimal system, numbers to 100, and the four operations.
This resource provides the rationale, instructions, and command cards with control of error for the Research in 10 Snake Game. Research in 10 is a preliminary game for Addition Snake Game (which has groupings that do not even out in 10s). This resource is awesome for any 3-6 or 6-9 Montessori classrooms or for home-schooling/home-learning to help children absorb the different combinations of 10.
a rationale for this resource
an illustrated presentation/lesson plan
10 command cards so that children can play this numeration game independently (they include a control of error/answer key)
NOT INCLUDED are any extra visual distractions to the materials. I have noticed that while many of the Montessori materials on this site are valuable resources, many of them use cartoon drawings and other kinds of visually distracting elements.
Follow me to see the Montessori materials I will be adding. :)
Any questions? Please message me. I am also working on some youtube videos for these presentations and games (coming soon).
