This is a fun boardgame that I have created in my studio for my teen/older piano students to basic keyboard navigation, finger numbers & the black/white note pattern. Use this game if my other boardgame for Absolute Beginners results in eye-rolling, shoulder shrugging, smirking, grunting or sighing.
Play the game in the traditional way that we've always played Snakes & Ladders but follow the directions on each square that you land on. You may use 1 or 2 dice. I've found that 1 dice gives more practice but 2 dice gives a fast-track game to play during a typical 30 minute piano lesson. We typically use fun small erasers as counters but you can use anything. When I play it with my students I use that opportunity to:
1/ Model how the tasks are meant to be played
2/ Lightly challenge the student or 'up the ante'
3/ Ham it up during the lesson to encourage the concept that learning can be fun.
This board is for absolute beginners from lesson 1.
