This is a board game that I have created in my studio for my piano students to learn their scales. The idea is now expanding into the Suzuki area. Play the game in the traditional way that we've always played Snakes & Ladders but follow the directions on each square that you land on. You may use 1 or 2 dice. I've found that 1 dice gives more scales practice but 2 dice gives a fast-track game to play during a typical 30 minute piano lesson. We typically use fun small erasers as counters but you can use anything. When I play it with my students I use that opportunity to:
1/ Model how the tasks are meant to be played
2/ Lightly challenge the student or 'up the ante'
3/ Ham it up during the lesson to encourage the concept that playing can be fun.
This board is for Suzuki Piano Book 1. The pieces within Book 1 are being spread over 3 games & this is the third game, incorporating all of Book 1, with early basics. You'll notice that I get more exciting as the game goes on. The sense of daring & challenge is a powerful motivator to accomplish something that would ordinarily seem too hard.
