This Snakes and Ladders game is a fun and engaging way to review the vocabulary for the Realidades 1A chapter (Spanish 2). Students take turns drawing a card, answering, rolling the dice, and moving their pawn around the board game. Since they check each other's answers with the answer key, you are free to spend the class time walking around and offering help.
This game would be great to play the day before a vocabulary recognition quiz near the beginning of the chapter, since students need to understand but not produce the chapter vocabulary.
This product includes a page of "logico/ilogico" question cards, a page of cards with phrases to translate into English, an answer key, a detailed teacher instruction page, and links to sites you can download and print Snakes and Ladders board games online.
These Snakes and Ladders games always go smoothly, and it is often requested by my students. I love it for multiple reasons:
a) students are highly engaged, since they are either answering or checking their partners' answers
b) students love the luck involved with this board game, and they never know who is going to win, since anyone can land at a snake or ladder at any turn
c) I am able to check in with each group, assess their level of understanding, and see what I need to review with the class
I hope you and your students enjoy the game as well!
