Have you been having fun with all of the filters on Snapchat? Bring that fun into the classroom with the Snapchat Creative Quick Write resource! It is my belief that writing should always be engaging, creative, and that students should have multiple opportunities to write in different ways. A quick write is a time for students to write freely for a brief amount of time. The Snapchat Creative Quick Write can be used in several different ways. Simply take a picture of a student using a fun filter in Snapchat, share the picture with the class, and students will use the photo for inspiration in writing an imaginative and creative piece. I hope you find this resource more than useful in your classroom!

WHAT IS INCLUDED:
1. Teacher Notes:
This page describes what the process looks like in my classroom. Again, it is very open to what works best for you and your classroom. I also include basic Snapchat information and ideas for different uses of this resource.
2. Snapchat Parent Permission Form:
***You can take photos in the Snapchat app and save the photos to your camera role without ever posting the photos to the app. If you would like for your students to post their photos to a class Snapchat account, then this permission form will explain how the activity works to parents. Parents can decide if they would/wouldn’t like for their child’s photo to be posted to the classroom account.
3. Instruction Page:
The three steps on this page explain the quick write process for students.
4. Teacher Model Example:
Prior to starting the activity it is very important that you are familiar with Snapchat, and that you model what a Snapchat Creative Quick Write looks like for your students. I have included a teacher model page for you. The Snapchat picture filters are constantly changing, so you may be able to use this exact example, or you could use it as inspiration for creating your own example.
5. 8 Writing Templates for 2nd Grade:
These writing templates have less lines and they are widely spaced. Five of these templates include a drawing space for students. The last template in this group only includes lines, and it can be used as an extra page for those students who are eager to write more.
6. 8 Writing Templates for 3rd – 5th Grade:
These writing templates have more lines and there is less space in between them. Five of these templates include a drawing space for students. The last template in this group only includes lines, and it can be used as an extra page for those students who are eager to write more.
7. 2 Different Snapchat Cover Pages:
At the end of the year students would love to have a collection of their individual quick writes, or they would enjoy a collection of quick writes written by the class using one of their Snapchat pictures (I would recommend making copies of student quick writes for this option). Use the Snapchat Cover Page just for that! Students can decorate the cover themselves, or you could print their Snapchat photos saved to your camera roll and put them on a cover page.
