The goals of the Snare Drum Mastery 101 course are the following:


- Provide intro and intermediate level drummers with a in depth look at snare drum methods
- Develop the ability the sight read for snare drum
- Familiarize the student with music theory, specifically related to drums
- Introduce and demonstrate the 40 essential drum rudiments
- Demonstrate how to apply the rudiments in various snare exercises
- Show how to effectively practice with a metronome for improved accuracy and timing
- Familiarize the student with the match grip and traditional grip
- Emphasize dexterity and right vs. left hand leading
- Provide practice tips and a way to begin drums with limited equipment
- Help those to get started playing the drums who always wanted to but could not find someone to help them
- Teach reading for snare drum that later can be applied to the entire drum set
- Produce highly educated and versatile musicians


LESSON ONE 
1. Demonstrate the basic notes and rest used for snare and the drum set.
2. Show how the notes are related and subdivided to produce time
3. Introduce the most common time signatures: 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8
4. Provide reading exercises for whole, half and quarter notes

LESSON TWO
1. Introduce the single stroke roll
2. Demonstrate the eighth note
3. Provide reading exercise using the eighth note

LESSON THREE
1. Introduce the single stroke four and single stroke seven
2. Provide practice tips for the single stroke using a metronome
3. Continue to build a solid foundation with more eighth note exercises.

LESSON FOUR
1. Introduce the multiple bounce roll and the double stroke roll
2. Introduce dynamic symbols used in music theory and applied to snare drum.
3. Provide comprehensive exercises using all the notes and theory learned in the past lessons.

LESSON FIVE
1. Introduce triplets and the Moeller method
2. Discuss 3/4 time signatures
3. Introduce additional repeat signs and music theory
4. Provide reading exercises using 3/4 timing

LESSON SIX
1. Introduce the 5, 6 and 7 stroke rolls
2. Discuss the 2/4 time signature
3. Provide reading exercises using the 2/4 time signature
4. Continue music theory discussions with the tie

LESSON SEVEN
1. Introduce the nine, ten, eleven and thirteen stroke rolls
2. Discuss the 6/8 time signature
3. Provide reading exercises using the 6/8 time signature

LESSON EIGHT
1. Introduce the 15 and 17 stroke rolls
2. Demonstrate the sixteenth note
3. Provide reading exercises using the sixteenth note

LESSON NINE
1. Introduce the single, double and triple paradiddles
2. Provide more reading exercises using the sixteenth note

LESSON TEN
1. Introduce the flam, flam accent and flam tap
2. Demonstrate the traditional grip
3. Provide reading exercises with flam in 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4

LESSON ELEVEN
1. Introduce the flamacue, flam paradiddle and single flammed mill
2. Provide reading exercises using the 5 stroke roll

LESSON TWELVE
1. Introduce the flam paradiddle-diddle, pataflafla and swiss army triplet
2. Provide reading exercises using the 5 stroke roll with sixteenth notes

LESSON THIRTEEN
1. Introduce the inverted flam tap and flam drag
2. Provide reading exercises using the 7 stroke roll

LESSON FOURTEEN
1. Introduce the drag, single tap drag, double tap drag, lesson 25 and single dragadiddle
2. Provide reading exercises using the 9 stroke and the 17 stroke roll

LESSON FIFTEEN  
1. Introduce the drag paradiddles
2. Introduce the single double and triple ratamacue
3. Provide reading exercises using various combinations of long rolls and flams.
