Sneaky ‘e’ Segmenting Strips
A ‘cvce’ Activity
This is a set of 13 strips with 6 ‘cvce’ pictures on each one and 4 more strips using silent ‘e’ with blends or digraphs. This provides differentiation. These segmenting strips are great for literacy stations, intervention teachers, or for an activity to do while you are in a guided reading group.
Print them on cardstock and laminate them.
Give children a segmenting strip. They will segment each word In order to spell it. A recording sheet is included to spell the words on. A section is added to the bottom of each sheet to use for differentiation. The children will pick a word and use it in a sentence in this section. If this isn’t needed, just cut the section off. There is a number on each segmenting strip to record on the recording sheet so the teacher will know what words the child should be spelling.
Instead of using the recording sheet, the children can spell the words on a whiteboard or use magnetic letters on a magnetic board.
Another way to use these cards, is to have the children place a magnetic letter on each picture to show the beginning, middle or ending sound.
