This very simple PowerPoint counselor guidance lesson is perfect for teaching the strength that is gained through tolerance, diversity, respect, and appreciating the differences between us to young children. It has 11 slides and includes a link to the 12 minute video - "The Sneetches" as well as links to an activity for either primary or intermediate grades that support the concept that while our commonalities bring us together, it is our differences that make our society stronger.
Animation and transitions are included in the presentation to help to hold the interest of students.
This multimedia PowerPoint presentation will take approximately 30 minutes to present and is geared toward Kindergarten through 2nd grade students, but it could easily be used for older students with a different teacher approach. This would be a great lesson for diversity to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Day or other multi-cultural needs.
