Brr! It's cold out there! Warm up while practicing the second 100 Fry Sight Words! Students take turns flipping cards over and reading the Fry Sight Word on the card. If the word is read correctly, the student gets to keep the card. If the word is read incorrectly, the card goes back to the bottom of the stack. Be careful though! If a Snow Day! card is turned over, all the cards go back to the stack! The person with the most cards at the end of the game wins!
This game can be played with all 100 sight word cards or broken up into sets of 25 (light blue, dark blue, light purple, and fuchsia).
For additional practice, I have added two differentiated worksheets for every 25 sight words (or every color group). I have found this allows me to work with small groups on one color at a time throughout the week and then assess how students read the words in text. Then I can determine what color group I want to work on with students the next week.
For students who are grasping sight words well, I will mix the colors to allow for more Snow Day! cards and a larger review of words.
For independent practice or teacher assessment, these cards may also serve as flashcards.
