This is a reading assignment that students can complete in class or at home, perhaps on a Snow Day or sick day, or as some other type of make-up work. They use their own personal level-appropriate book. The assignment requires that they do a close reading of a chapter and then do some work to summarize and assess that chapter. It also incorporates vocabulary. This was created for those days when we were caught off-guard with a weather cancellation and I knew my students most likely hadn't taken their textbooks home.
