Snowflakes Sight Word Search - kindergarten - first grade - literacy center - making words
This resource includes two pages of numbered cards in color with six cards per page. Each numbered card has a picture of a snowflake (in color) with a sight word on it. There are 12 total numbered cards. Teachers should copy the cards on cardstock (for durability and saving for future years) or plain paper, laminate (if desired), cut apart, and then post the cards around the room. If you don't want students walking around the room, the cards can be put in a center such as at the writing center or in a pocket chart.
The 12 words on the cards are
when, your, can, said, there, use, an, each, which, she, do, how
Students will get a recording sheet (provided) with spaces to write 12 sight words. ***Two different recording sheets are provided. One has spaces to write the words with the dotted middle line format, and one recording sheet has plain lines to write the words on. Please use the one that best fits the needs of your students. The preview shows all pages included.
Students will roam the room to find the picture cards. After finding a card, the student will look at the number on the card, find the matching number on their recording sheet, and write the sight word shown. Example: Picture card number one has the word "when" on it, so students will write the word "when" on number one on their recording sheet. If students finish early, two numbered writing sheets (1-6 and 7-12) with plain lines are provided for students to create a sentence with each word from their recording sheet.
An answer key is provided for the recording sheet either as a self-check for students or for the teacher to have an answer key to quickly check papers.
The answers are the same for both recording sheets since they are numbered.
***There are six total pages including an answer key: 2 picture card pages, 2 recording sheet choices, 1 answer key to recording sheet, 2 lined pages for writing sentences.
The PREVIEW shows every page included.
This activity is great for a literacy center, writing center, or word work activity.
Word cards can also be used in a center where students make the sight words with magnetic letters, wiki sticks, letter tiles, and so much more.
I hope your students have fun with this sight word activity.
