Here's a super-fun way to practice place value.
If your students are like mine, they will absolutely LOVE making a place value snow pal.
Because my kiddos enjoy this activity so much, I always run off "extra stuff" because many of them ask to make additional snowmen! Woo Hoo.
The beauty of this "mathtivity" is that it's simple enough for younger students studying 2-digit numbers, those working on 3-digit numbers and challenging enough for students practicing place value for 4-digit numbers; which makes it super-simple to diversify your lessons, with everyone still working on the same activity.
There are worksheets for all 3 levels, which makes it appropriate for a of .
Simply print the worksheet filled with an assortment of place value blocks.
Students decide which pieces they want to use to decorate their place value snowman with, then color, cut and glue them to the .
Afterwards, using 3 worksheet options, they figure out the value of their snowman.
OR... students can do the reverse; choosing a number and then designing their snowman accordingly.
Completed projects make an awesome bulletin board or hallway display.
We always get a ton of compliments on ours, which is a real self-esteem builder.
I've included 2 posters to add some extra pizzazz to your display.
I've also included several additional math extensions you can do as a whole group activity, or students can do individually, with a partner, or in a small group.
I'm Diane from Teach With Me, wishing you a wonderful winter.
