This activity was created to partner with the book ‘Snowmen at Night’ by Caralyn Buehner. It can be used as a standalone activity for following directions, descriptors, imaginative play, basic concepts big/little, short/long/tall, soft/hard, thick/fat/thin, on/off, same/different, body parts, etc. When used with the book, there are many opportunities for verb+ing, past tense verbs, community places, temporal concepts, prediction, WH ?’s, inferencing, etc. The activity works best printed on card stock and then laminated. The gray sheet for the accessories can be used as a template and also for a picture to picture matching. We used sticky tack to move the pieces rather than Velcro. We created 1” pictures using Lesson Pix and Boardmaker to assist the non-verbal participants (you can see in my sample). I did not include them in this set for copyright reasons. I hope you and your students find much enjoyment from this activity.
