Objective: To learn how to ask a question, make a comment and/or add a thought during a conversation with a peer/adult.
Directions: Give each student a snowman worksheet, one pencil and one paperclip. Cut topic cards and place upside down on the table. Instruct students that when it is their turn they will turn over one topic card. After, the student turns over a topic card, instruct them to place the point of their pencil in the middle of the snowman. Then, have the student place the paperclip under the point of the pencil. Instruct the student to use their index finger to move the paperclip around the pencil. When the paperclip stops moving, instruct the student that he/she will have to either make a comment, ask a question or add a thought that is relevant to the topic they picked. Use visuals for these skills if needed. The snowman spinner activity is available in color and in black/white.
