A glyph conveys information in picture form. With this resource, students will express their thoughts about winter and snow with a snowman craft, survey, data sheet, and writing prompt.
First students will complete the Snowman Glyph Survey and use their answers to choose the appropriate parts for their snowman.
Direct students to cut out the correct snowman pieces using their survey results as a guide. Once the snowmen are assembled, invite students to interpret the glyphs together. They can tally, count, and graph the results on their Data Sheets. Model how to create a bar graph so they can design their own using the class glyphs.
Included in this resource is a writing prompt for students to write a How-To essay on how to build a snowman.
All sheets are available in both color and black and white.
