LOW PREP Language activities for your whole caseload! All of these activities and resources are easily adapted to any goal or unit for your winter caseload! Build vocabulary while you build a snowman with "Parts of a Snowman"; Enjoy fun language opportunities emerge with "Five Little Snowmen"; Help your students understand feelings and emotions while expanding language with "Snowman Feelings".
PARTS OF A SNOWMAN:
1.Parts of a snowman tissue box drop: Print, cut, and attach the provided snowman to the front of an empty tissue box and as you talk about each of his body parts and accessories, allow the student to drop the card into the box (if you don’t have a tissue box you can use a sturdy cup).
2.Word-Picture match-up: Print and cut-out the picture cards and word cards and have students match the corresponding picture to its word.
3.Word-Picture memory: Print and cut-out the picture cards and word cards on cardstock and turn them over. Play memory by matching the picture to its corresponding word. You can also use the vocabulary cards by printing two copies and playing memory, matching the identical cards.
4.Build your own snowman: Print worksheet and have students color/draw their own snowman. For more advanced students, have them label the parts.
5.Compare and contrast: Use the Venn Diagram to guide students through a comparison of parts of a snowman vs. parts of a human. For more advanced students let them complete the activity independently with or without the word bank.
6.“WH” questions worksheet: Have students cut out the pictures on the bottom of the worksheet and glue them in the correct box to answer the “what,” “who,” or “where” question.
7.Pacing boards: For students working on expressive language, use these pacing boards to aid their sentence expansion.
1.Feelings identification (pages 1-3): Use the vocabulary cards to answer or complete the questions. Discuss why the student feels that way or make predictions as to why the snowman feels a certain way. Blank cards are provided for your own questions/sentences.
2.Pacing boards: For students working on expressive language, use these pacing boards to aid their sentence expansion.
3.Coloring and cut-and-paste worksheets: Print out worksheets and create your own snowman face/feeling. Complete the sentence to tell how the snowman feels. Cut out the different facial features and create your own snowman face.
4.Vocabulary cards: 24 feelings included! Print and laminate (if desired) to use with sentence strips or to discuss feelings. Use as a supplement to any feelings/emotions curriculum.
5.Word cards and Picture cards: Print on cardstock and use to play match-up games or memory. Match up the correct picture to the corresponding word.
6.Comprehension questions worksheet: Have students cut out the pictures on the bottom of the worksheet and glue them in the correct box to demonstrate understanding of why the snowman feels a certain way.

Recommended printing on CARDSTOCK. After cutting and folding the table tent pictures, use the song to tell the story of “Five Little Snowmen" (to the tune of Five Little Ducks). After cutting and folding the table tent pictures, use the song to tell the story of “Five Little Snowmen.” Have the five snowmen set up in a row. As the snowmen melt, turn them around to show they are melting as you sing the song. Use the sun, snowball and trees as props to tell the story. Afterwards you can have the students re-tell the story and answer questions. Included you will also find two worksheets for comprehension and counting. You will also find three pacing boards to help with your children who need visual supports to expand sentences or answer questions. An open-ended drawing page is included as well.
