This is a week long mini unit on the suffixes -ly, -full, -ness, and -less. The words used in this unit go with the Scott Foresman Reading Street spelling list, however you can still use this for lessons on suffixes and not use the words as spelling words.
This mini unit contains:
a brief summary of my plans to use this unit for a week
an activity that requires students to identify and separate he base/root word from the suffix and sort them
a differentiated sorting activity- the levels are: simply sorting the words based on suffix and recording them (while discussing the meanings of the words), sorting, recording, and writing the meaning of each word, and sorting, recording, and using words in a sentence.
a sentence equation activity where students will write the words as follows: beauty + ful = beautiful
PLEASE NOTE there is not a test for this mini unit because our assessment will be the spelling test I give on Friday HOWEVER, the equation sheet can easily be used as your assessment as well as the differentiated activities.
