Increasing a student's ability to use and understand antonyms and synonyms will help to improve their vocabulary knowledge.

If a student has a good vocabulary knowledge, they will have increased comprehension of the spoken and written word.

Students need to be able to have a good grasp of vocabulary before they can deeply comprehend text that they are reading.
