This novel unit is for Sarah Weeks’s novel titled So B. It. This is a four-week unit, but the materials and activities included are flexible, and can be implemented in your classroom as you see fit!
CHAPTER DUE DATES
Use these pages when assigning chapters to help your students stay organized! Two versions of this resource are included.
I’ve included detailed summaries for each of the 23 chapters.
VOCABULARY WORDS, ACTIVITIES, & QUIZ
You’ll find a fantastic vocabulary word list for the entire book, along with four practice activities (with answer keys) that can be easily assigned as homework as students read. There is also a final quiz included with an answer key. This vocabulary unit can be easily taken out of the literature unit if you have a different system in place for teaching vocabulary in your classroom.
These are great “as you read” questions for students to complete for homework or class work. These questions highlight the main idea(s) of each chapter. Answer keys with page numbers are included.
A comprehension quiz for each of the four parts of the novel includes basic plot questions that will help you determine if a student completed the assigned reading for the week. Answer keys with page numbers are included.
Six discussion questions are included for each of the four parts of the novel. These questions require students to think critically about the text. They can be implemented in your classroom in many different ways. (Fun ideas are included!)
My students were intrigued by the 23 words Mama could use. This fun activity asks students to make meaning of sentences using only these 23 words. Then, they’re asked to come up with their own sentences!
