This digital presentation is a quick introduction to writing an argumentative essay. It begins with a story that students read. Individually students decide who is most to blame in the story and then try to convince their peers that they are correct. The teacher then points out that they are all making arguments. Then, each part of an argumentative essay is defined, explained and modeled. Students are then shown an example of a simple outline to get them started and given the opportunity to try it themselves.
This presentation uses the common core lexicon but teachers are encouraged to change if their school does not use the common core lexicon.
