The activities in this file by Sallie Ditsch provide guided reading for the book titled George Washington, the Man Who Would Not Be King, which was written by Stephen Krensky.
They provide a good supplement to social studies curriculum when studying U S History. The book is interesting, easy reading, and in addition to giving insight into the life of George Washington, it clearly explains reasons for the Revolutionary War and the establishment of our government. I believe this book could be used appropriately with students in grades 4 through 7.
I used this book with fifth grade social studies students. I had multiple copies, one for each student, but it could be read aloud and questions discussed and answered as note taking.
Included are: worksheets for all 11 chapters, a quiz, a crossword puzzle, a word search, and answer keys for all of the activities.
