5 Sets of Synonyms Games (12 pairs of synonyms per set)
★ 3 Ways to Play - Spring Synonyms Soccer balls with synonyms match up to soccer nets with the matching synonyms .
★ Optional Spring soccer synonyms recording sheets for students to write the pairs of synonyms .
★ Answer keys for each set of synonyms are included.
★ Play as a simple independent synonyms activity or as a synonyms game.
WAYS TO USE:
1. You can simply give 5 students one set per student to match up and record on the synonyms recording sheets, or you can play as a game.
2. Synonyms Game: Depending on how many students play, just put the sets of synonyms soccer balls that match their nets face down on a table or in the decorated box lid (see below). Now players take turns drawing balls. If a ball can be matched to a net, the player can keep that ball. If not, it goes in a discard pile. When all balls have been drawn, shuffle the discard pile and place back in the lid or back on the table to be drawn again. The player is the student who fills his or her nets first. OR if time is limited, the winner is the person with the most nets filled when the time is up.
The spring synonyms soccer balls can simply be printed as is, or to make them more appealing, you can print the reverse image of the balls on the reverse side by following these directions. OR just print out the file as is, and glue the soccer ball backings in place.
Print page 1 and 2 (these directions and seller info).
Print page 3 – soccer balls with synonyms
Place page 3 in the printer’s paper tray face up and facing you.
Print page 4, and the reverse images of the soccer balls will print out on the back.
Print page 5 – more soccer balls with synonyms
Place page 5 back in the printer’s paper tray face up and facing you.
Print page 6, and the reverse images of the soccer balls will print out on the back.
Continue in this manner until the 5 pages of soccer balls are completed front and back.
Print pages 13-17: soccer net goal gameboards with the matching synonyms on them.
Pages 18 and 21 are the optional recording sheets. There are 2 in color if you’d like to laminate them and ask students to use erasable markers. There are 2 black and white version for students to record in pencil.
Pages 22 has the 5 answer keys.
Pages 23 and 24 are optional Synonym Star Awards, 2 in color and 2 in black and white.
Pages 25-28 are 4 pages of optional soccer field scenery and soccer players to make things a bit more realistic. I have explained how to use these below.
Cut the soccer ball sheets on the paper cutter into 12 square cards each. Soccer balls can simply be placed text side down, and students draw a soccer ball card to match to a net OR for more fun, decorate a file folder box lid with the soccer scenery, and place the soccer balls in the lid.
The soccer ball can be placed in any soccer net that contains a matching synonym. The winner is the first student to fill the nets on his or her gameboard. To make things a bit more realistic, I have provided 2 pages full of soccer scenery and soccer players to fold in half the long way and place over the edge of the file folder box lid.
