Learning to ask and answer questions are common goals for
children in social communication groups. Most children with
social communication delays have difficulty with asking and
answering questions with peers. Social Butterflies Club® Qs are
question activities that make asking and answering questions
more interactive for children. These can also be used in individual
speech-language therapy sessions. There are theme-based simple
and complex wh- questions in this activity.
Sample Target Social Communication Goals:
• engage in appropriate turn-taking skills by attending to peer’s turn and waiting for own turn
• appropriately acknowledge an interaction initiated by others by giving an appropriate response (either verbal or non-verbal)
• answer simple wh- questions
• use and understand target vocabulary
