Social Context Cues and Clues - Social Context Investigation
Reading facial expressions and body language are essential social understanding and social communication skills for students to develop. However, it is equally imperative that students learn to recognize social context cues (clues) in the environment in order to avoid social misunderstandings. Making assumptions about what is going on in a situation based solely upon facial expressions and body language can result in social interpretation errors.
This resource was designed to help students learn to recognize social context clues in order to effectively determine what is going on and using this information in making good guesses about what others are thinking and feeling. Ultimately, use of these skills are likely to result in students engaging in more appropriate and expected behavior in their social interactions.
