Lesson 1-What Does Optimism Mean?
To begin the unit, you'll discuss optimism with your class. You'll read different situations to students, and they will "turn it around" and discuss how to turn it into a positive. Students will even spin to practice "turning it around."
Lesson 2- How Does Optimism Sound?
Your class will discuss optimism and pessimism as well and finding the good in each situation. Then you'll read various scenario cards and students will decide if they are optimistic or pessimistic.
Lesson 3-Is the Glass Half-Full or Half-Empty?
Your class will discuss seeing the glass as half-full and half-empty, and how being optimistic makes things seem so much better! Than students will complete a quick craft about seeing things as half-full or half-empty.
Lesson 4-How Can We Find the Silver Lining?
In the final lesson, you'll help students understand the phrase "find the silver lining." You'll talk about "clouds" in life, and how even when things seem dark, we can always find something positive! Then students will create an adorable craft and write about finding the silver lining.
