The following is a peer to peer interview activity to be used while teaching students the Social Institution of Sports in Sociology.
I start my topic on the Social Institution of Sports with this interview activity. As class begins on day 1 of the topic, I ask students to pair up with a student of their choice in the classroom. I then hand each student this worksheet and asked them to take 15 minutes to conduct an interview with their partner. After time is up I then move on toa short lecture and notes on the topic of Sports (using my Social Institution of Sports PPT which is available for purchase in my TPT store). To end class on day 1, I assign the "Exit Slip" (which is included in this activity at the bottom of the interview). Students are asked to consider the interview answers they received and apply them to what they learned about the impact that Sports have on behavior. I usually have some time at the end of class, so I ask a few students to share aloud their answers and when the bell rings I stand at the door and collect the exit slips. Day 2 I usually show the Sandlot and assign my video application activity that goes along with the movie (which is available for purchase in my TPT store). Students love the movie and it allows them to clearly see the impacts that Sports can have on behavior. These combine activities usually take 3 days and provides a fun and informative study of the Social Institution of Sports.
