The following activity is an application activity which instructs students to apply their knowledge and understanding of Social Interaction and Group Dynamics to the movie "12 Angry Men".
This activity paired with the movie is always "a hit" with my Sociology students.
Students are directed to watch the movie in class and as they watch, in a graphic organizer, list 1-2 types of Social Interaction (Cooperation, Conflict, Social Exchange, Coercion, and Conformity) they observe each of the 12 jurors displaying and citing evidence from the video in their explanation.
Lastly students have two follow-up application questions to answer based on the behavior they observed in the video.
Video is readily available and can be rented from the library, purchased from the store, borrowed staff or students, or downloaded from a media site online.
