Playing games is something all our kids do but when winning becomes everything it is no fun for anyone. Being overly competitive is a barrier for many kids in being successful in group games. Being a gracious winner and loser is an important skill that should be taught. This social story tells kids no one likes to lose but being overly competitive can get in the way in your brain and not let the other aspects of yourself come through, such as the fun, interesting and team player parts. The story gives a 5 step lesson on how to re-frame losing. First step is to calm down and then the story goes through a series of thought changing activities. This is a great story for ALL students but especially those that are overly competitive.
