The social skill clippie cards were created to use in one on one or small group social skills groups. These cards were created to improve student’s abilities to make decisions about what is appropriate during social situations.
Read the scenarios with the students and using clothes pins have the students determine what should happen next (ask a questions, answer a questions, make a comment or walk away. These cards encourage a conversations about a variety of social scenarios. Encourage students to give an example of the answer they have chosen. There are very few cards with “right” or “wrong” answers. Students need to be able to justify why they would do what they would do and give an example of a question, answer or comment. These scenarios lend themselves to discussions regarding what is “socially appropriate”
