HOW ARE GOOD FRIENDSHIPS BUILT?
Making friends is a top goal for most students in middle school and those entering high school. Moreover, friendships are necessary for us to live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. Yet, many students, especially special education students, struggle to make friends. They don’t understand how to properly make friends or what a good friendship looks like. This lesson focuses on teaching students the steps they can take to make friends and how to identify good friendships from unhealthy ones.
Objectives: Students will be able to
• Identify the characteristics of a good friendship.
• Explain why having friendships are important.
• Explain the process in how to properly build a good friendship.
• Identify the warning signs of a failed friendship
