Product Description
These Social Skills Lessons include making eye contact, sharing, working with others, personal space, body language, and more. Teaching social skills is extremely important for all children to be successful in and out of school. These lessons are also particularly helpful for students with autism and other disabilities. Each lesson includes 2 pages and are split into three major parts: a description of the social skill rule and why it is important, ways to practice and role play the skill, and discussion questions.

The social skills lessons in this document are specifically targeting basic interactions. The following skills are identified:
• Making eye contact
• Greetings
• Classroom body language
• Letting others go first
• Sharing
• Working with partners/groups
• Maintaining personal space
• Using polite words
• Being a good sport
• Having a positive attitude

How to Teach Social Skills
You may choose to use these lessons in a small group or a whole class lesson. Either way, it is most important that students get a chance to interact, practice the skills, and discuss what they have learned through the discussion questions. Students should be encouraged to share responses aloud, talk out solutions to problems, and explain their reasons. It is important that social skills are taught and discussed so that students can generalize the skills to many areas in their life.

Using model peers is strongly advised when learning and practicing social skills, especially for students with disabilities. These students will need the support and modeling from their peers to see, hear, and eventually imitate those same social skills. Teachers may also want to work with model peers ahead of time to coach them as role models.

Regular education teachers, special education teachers, school counselors, school psychologists, and social workers could all benefit from using these lessons. They are printable and require no prep!
