Social Skills- Table Manners –Respect Lesson - 9 Video links PBIS Character Ed
Research is showing that the “soft” skills such as self-control, interpersonal skills, manners, conflict resolution, and accepting responsibility for one’s actions are vital to success. If one does not have manners and the skills to navigate the various situations that present themselves in the workforce, one’s chances of success are limited.
This is a lesson that addresses the ever-important concept of manners, integrity, and social interactions. It includes 21 slides and links to 9 videos ranging in length from 1:30 min and 26:00 min. Concepts included are:
• Importance of Manners to Success
• Table Manners
• Respect for others
• Accepting responsibility for one’s actions
• Dressing for success
This presentation has 22 slides and includes a links to 9 different videos to support the concepts that are addressed. There are several videos on the importance of table manners, a skill that is woefully lacking in many children’s skill set. This is a rich variety of concepts that all need to be taught to our students to ensure their later success.
I would schedule at least 60 minutes for this lesson and would probably break it into two continuing lessons. You may need to re-order slides to fit your particular presentation style, but it will work well without re-ordering. This lesson is easily customizable for both primary and intermediate levels.
The PowerPoint is customizable and includes both animations and transitions to hold your students' interest. Make your lesson come alive for your students and help them to connect to the concept in a fun way that will help them to remember the important lessons you need for them to remember.
