These are two social stories around what children should do when the teacher is a) teaching or b) giving a direction. The first story (when the teacher is teaching) is short, so I have included two to a page. The second story (when the teacher gives a direction) is one page long. There is a blank space you can even fill in teacher(s)' names to make the story more meaningful. Both social stories include pictures to make it more kid-friendly. These social stories have been read with students as old as 5th grade (with and without disabilities) and have had a positive impact on their behavior. All kids need to be explicitly taught behaviors we often assume are learned naturally. Social stories make this happen!
