As a special education teacher, two things I know a lot about are behavior and going to the bathroom. So last week when I heard someone call someone else a “turd” I started thinking about what it meant to compare someone’s behavior to a poop. The result is this rhyming and hopefully humorous social story.
The plot of this story starts by asking why anyone would compare a person’s behavior to a turd. It describes several characteristics of poop relevant to behavior and then moves to discussing ways to change absurd behavior. It ends with this:
In conclusion, I hope wherever you go today,
“You are an amazing kid!” is what people say.
May all your behavior be nice and never naughty.
May all of your turds stay in the potty.
Color and black and white versions are included.
