This social story was created to teach expected behaviors and socially appropriate expectations within the classroom. This particular social story was originally created for an individual who would use classroom materials (i.e. computer, iPad) or leave the room abruptly without requesting permission or disclosing his intent. I have restructured the original social story to leave it more subjective for your own personal use. The story is 11 pages long; including sentence strips to practice carrier phrases that may be used to teach requesting, visual aids to use in the classroom as reminders, and a set of comprehension questions at the end to talk about the story and your own classroom expectations. I use this primarily with my ASD students. It has been a wonderful tool. I hope you find it useful as well!
To use the book:
Print out the pages and sort by page number in the bottom right hand corner. You can choose to laminate or place in page protectors if you'd like. I just ended up binding mine together. You can laminate and cut out the visual strips and place them on student desks, classroom equipment or materials, doorways, etc.
