How to Use:
Pick the version of the social story that works best for you. Read to the children before the act occurs. If there begins to be an issue during what is expected reread the social story. You can read the stories at story time at the beginning of the year too.
1 page Story: print on cardstock and laminate.
Books: Print on cardstock and laminate. Use the pages that work best for your students. Cut in ½ and bind.
Stop Sign: Place on doors around classroom for visual for students to stop.
Wait Cards: Give to students while they are waiting in line as a visual reminder.
Chart showing happy or sad choice. Simplified social story. Ask student which choice they are making and/ or explain which they should be making.
My teacher/ friend feels: once child uses eye contact have them point to how that child or the teacher is feeling to see if they understand.
I am making… After the child has shown that they understand how you feel have them show what choice (happy or sad) they have made to make you or their friend feel that way. Initially you may have to show the child you feel upset because they made a sad choice.
